Reflecting and Envisioning the Solel of the Future
We are excited to be celebrating Solel’s 50th anniversary this year! As we look back and reflect upon the amazing impact Solel has had in Mississauga and in the surrounding community, we will be marking this milestone year with a number of exciting events. Please be sure to look at the Solel@50 page on our website and mark your calendar for these celebratory occasions.
As a synagogue that started from a small group of dedicated members united by the common goal of Jewish growth and community, from our beginnings in members homes to the Glen Erin Inn and then to our home on Folkway Drive, Solel has always focused on being a welcoming Jewish centre of the people.
From our early years strong bonds have developed, and through simchas and sorrows we have become a Solel family, caring for each other, and evolving into the special community that we are today. Our secret sauce for success continues to be the wonderful members, dedicated volunteers, and generous donors who have not only blazed the path forward but continue to light the way, creating a dynamic and growing foundation for the future.
While we will be fondly looking back over the past years in our celebrations, we will also be excitedly looking forward to the next generation of Solel. We are continuing to evolve and grow to meet the challenges of the next generation.
As part of our High Holiday services this year we will be engaging in reflection and visioning together. Here are some questions that you might want to think about in advance:
Share a special Solel memory.
What about Solel has touched you/been most meaningful in the last five years?
Why is Solel special?
What is one dream you have for Solel at 60 (the Solel of the future)?
For our special guests at this High Holidays:
Why did you choose to join Solel for these services?
Share a moment that has touched you during your time here at Solel
What are you looking for in Jewish community?
What is one dream you have for Solel at 60 (the Solel of the future)?
I look forward to being together for our High Holiday services this year and for all of the social 50th Anniversary events that we have planned!
L’Shanah Tovah Tikateivu,
Rabbi Audrey S. Pollack
