Building Solel’s Future

by Joel Brown, February 5, 2015

We have been working hard as a community to plan for our future together. After over two years of preparations we have chosen our next spiritual leader and teacher, Rabbi Audrey Pollack. When Rabbi Pollack joins us in July, she will be coming to a Solel that is poised and ready to begin our next great chapter as a welcoming home for Jews in the western GTA. With Rabbi Pollack’s leadership, Solel will continue to grow as place where we can come together to celebrate life’s great joys and to support each other during challenging times. With her compassion, her wisdom and her guitar, Rabbi Pollack will lead us through beautiful services, wonderful opportunities to share time as a community, and a renewed sense of making a difference in our community, our city and the world. In the coming months, we will be working to create opportunities for you to get to know Rabbi Pollack, her husband Phil Subeck, and their children Seth, Gil, and Rachel.

While we have been working so hard to find a leader for our Jewish home, we have also been working hard to ensure that we have a strong, dry, safe place in which to come together as a community . Our roof replacement project got off to a slow start due to inclement weather, but doing the job right is vital. This job has taken a lot of time, and a considerable amount of our financial reserves, but this investment in Solel’s future will pay off for decades to come. The board would like to thank everyone who has already made a generous donation to our “Raise the Roof” campaign. There are many things we want to do as a congregation and we need to be sure to have the financial strength to get these things done. There’s still time to help with this important work.

We’re asking everyone who can to help Solel by making a contribution. Any amount is welcome and greatly appreciated. We encourage you to consider donating at one of these levels.

Sustainer $100
Steward $250.
Patron $500.
Guardian $1,000
Builder $2,500
Founder $5000 +

All donations are tax creditable. Every dollar you donate costs you as little as 60 cents after your tax credit. Please contribute whatever you can to help Solel begin our next great chapter on a strong footing. Together we will build a bright future for our Jewish home.
